IMPORTANT CONVENTION UPDATE
We have important information to pass along to our members. Please read the entire message and take appropriate action. Be sure to share this information with all who may be interested.
CCNA LOCATION CHANGE
As a result of a current labour strike at the Sheraton Vancouver Guildford Hotel, CCNA will not be able to proceed with our plans to celebrate our recovery at that venue.
However, we have secured another venue. CCNA XXXIII will take place on the same dates – September 26, 27 & 28, 2025 at a new location.
Though we cannot duplicate our plans exactly we have done our best to avoid inconveniencing our convention goers. We invite all to join us at the Sheraton Vancouver Airport Hotel in Richmond, BC.
CCNA REGISTRATIONS
If you have already registered for the convention you don’t need to do anything else, just show up at the new location on the same dates and times. If, as part of that CCNA registration, you had pre-paid for available parking, we will have a refund for that service awaiting you onsite at the convention in Richmond.
HOTEL RESERVATIONS
If you have previously made a reservation at the Sheraton Vancouver Guildford Hotel it has been cancelled! If you made a reservation elsewhere close to the venue in Surrey, it is important that you cancel that reservation and make a new reservation at one of the host hotels or close to the new venue in Richmond, BC.
As a result of making such a significant last-minute change, we cannot accommodate all members at one hotel at such a late stage in planning. However, we have made arrangements to have the same number of guestrooms as was contracted in Surrey but they are spread over 3 hotels: Sheraton Vancouver Airport Hotel, Vancouver Airport Marriott (right next to the Sheraton – only about 30 steps from door to door), and the Executive Vancouver Airport – just a short 4-minute walk on the same side of the same street.
Another downside of the forced move is an unavoidable increase in the room rates ranging from $259.00 to $279.00 for single/double occupancy. We apologize for this unwanted increase, however, be assured we negotiated much better rates than retail rates available publicly which range from $406.00 and up, per night. We would expect these public rates to climb in the coming weeks.
We have a limited number of rooms and a short window of availability, and we are confident our block will sell out quickly. It is in your best interest to make a new reservation, preferably at one of our block hotels, as soon as possible. We can only offer you these special rates until September 14, 2025, or until the block is sold out, whichever comes first. Go to our website (https://canadianconvention.com) for convention information as well as to make hotel reservations through our direct dedicated link.
There are a couple of pluses that help soften the inconvenience a bit. The new hotels offer free airport shuttle and free parking. The hotels are also only a few minutes walk to/from the SkyTrain.
SEE YOU IN RICHMOND
Our sincere apologies go out to all of you for any inconvenience this has and is causing. None of us saw this strike coming. We have done all we can to mitigate the situation as we are ultimately powerless over it.
If you have any questions, please feel free to email us directly and we will respond to you within 24 hours. (pwg@canadianconvention.com)
Yours In Loving Service,
CCNA Planning Work Group/ Local Work Group
Hello,
Preparations for World Unity Day on 5–6 September are underway, and we are so excited! For the first time, we are hosting 24 hours of content from around the world. There will be workshops, videos, shared experience, and more–including stuff you create!
We have a few ideas for photos and short videos we’d like to see from you.
One is “Show and Tell.” We’d love to see your meeting room! You can send a photo, or if your homegroup or event wants to send a shout-out (and everyone is willing to be shared during the web meeting), send a video saying hi to the wide world of NA. Do you have a special spot where you do stepwork, or where you meet with sponsees? Is your Basic Text or Step Working Guides all marked up with highlighter and notes? Send us a picture! Does your NA community play football, or sit at a campfire, or gather at a tea shop? Whatever shows your NA “spot,” your recovery, your community–show and tell a little about what we’re seeing.
Another is a short (1-2 minute) video answering a question:
· Where and when did you get clean? What was one thing that made you fall in love with NA – either when you first got here or more recently?
· What is your vision for our future? What do you want NA to look like in 20 years–in your community, or worldwide?
· What makes NA feel like home to you? What was one thing someone did that made you feel like you could stay?
· Tell us about someone who made a difference in your recovery (please don’t use their last name).
You can record on your phone or whatever works for you—but the file needs to be saved as .mov or .wma. Send your photos and videos here.
More information about the 24-hour virtual extravaganza will be available in eblasts and on the website as it comes together. Meanwhile, think about what images or video you want to contribute to send the Fellowship some love!
We look forward to seeing you on 5 and 6 September!
With gratitude,
World Board
Hello,
Once again, we’re sharing so much news in one e-blast! We’re happy to have so much going on, but it means we need you to stay with us through all this news. Get a cuppa coffee and read on.

We’re on Facebook!
NA World Services now has an official Facebook page (@naworldservices). For now, we are posting the same material as on our Instagram account. We may also post NAWS Update emails. Content will likely evolve as our relationship to the platform develops. This is not our first experiment with Facebook, but it has been years since we attempted a presence there. So many of our members use this platform that we wanted to try again to see if it can work for us.
The messaging option is turned off altogether, as is the ability to comment on posts. Communications to World Services will continue to come through na.org/contact or emails to the World Board (wb@na.org).
Those who follow or like the page are not visible except to their Facebook friends who have also liked or followed the page. We are not able to prevent that level of visibility on the page, but members who are concerned about this can also change their personal settings so that pages they like or follow are not visible to anyone. (For information about how to do that please refer to this Facebook help page) We believe that these settings allow us to participate here without putting members’ anonymity at risk.
More Will Be Revised
Drafts of two pieces under revision and one new service resource are being prepared for your review and input. Keep an eye out for draft revisions of IP#21, H&I Basics, and Virtual Service Basics. The review and input period for each of these is relatively brief, and we count on Fellowship input to make NA literature and service material as true to our collective experience as possible. We look forward to hearing from you on each of these important projects.
Links to na.org need updating
We have redesigned our website, and as a result URLs for IPs and most other resources have changed. Please check links on your area, regional, and zonal websites and update if needed so that your local links to literature and other spots on na.org are not broken. If you need help finding what you’re looking for, let us know: webmaster@na.org.
Rest assured, we are working on the na.org search function and hope to have it in operation soon.
Membership Survey is still out there!
The Membership Survey is up until the end of January—which is fast approaching! We conduct the Membership Survey in concert with each World Convention, but we don’t just want to hear from those of you who were at WCNA. Every time we conduct such a survey we get more responses than the time before. And each time we learn more about our Fellowship: who our members are, who we are reaching, and how our efforts to carry the message can improve. The survey also provides important data for researchers to demonstrate what we know from experience: NA Works.
Please spread the word. We are grateful for every survey returned: na.org/survey.
In loving service,
World Board
